Who is the Troopydoc?

G’day everyone.

Peter Fritz here from @fritzintroopy. I’m an Emergency Medicine doctor in Australia. I trained in Victoria and Tasmania and have spent the last 19 years working as a specialist in various Emergency and Trauma Hospitals across Melbourne.

I have always had a passion for education and over the past 2 decades I taught many doctors, nurses and paramedics with a major focus on managing the resuscitation of the most acutely unwell patients.

In 2019 I bought my first Troopy and fell in love with overlanding and remote travel. Around the same time I became more interested in health and nutrition and prevention of disease. This took me into a deep dive into metabolic health during which time I discovered I had early onset heart disease. I was 46 at the time, imagine the shock of this realisation. I subsequently had a near miss in 2021 when it was discovered my blockage had actually gotten worse in only 2 years. During some of this time I was overlanding across remote parts of Australia hours to days away from any healthcare. These events are what fuelled my passion to create awareness about heart health among the overlanding/4WD/touring community.

We all love remote locations but this adds a degree of difficulty if you unexpectedly develop serious health problems, like a heart attack. So the aim of this website is to inform you about the best and easiest ways to check your heart and track your general health to ensure things are running optimally just like you would with your truck before heading into the bush.

So always remember:
